Patient Terms

The terms for patients who call, text, book, fill in forms or pay through Modulon on behalf of their clinic.

01About these terms#

Modulon Health ("Modulon") provides software that clinics use to answer calls and texts, take online bookings, collect intake forms and take payments. These terms apply when you, as a patient or on a patient's behalf, use any of those services. By using them you agree to these terms.

Your clinic is your healthcare provider, not Modulon. Modulon acts only on your clinic's behalf and within the rules it sets. Your clinic's own policies, such as on cancellations, fees and refunds, also apply.

02Emergencies#

Do not use these services in an emergency. Call your local emergency number, such as 911 in the United States, 112 in Europe, 999 in the United Kingdom, 998 in the UAE, 999 in Qatar or 997 in Saudi Arabia, or go to the nearest emergency department. Texts and messages are not monitored around the clock.

03The automated assistant#

  • When you call or text your clinic, an automated assistant may respond. It will tell you so, and you can ask for a person at any time.
  • The assistant can book, change and cancel appointments, answer questions about the clinic, and take messages. It does not give medical advice; clinical questions are passed to your clinic's staff.
  • It can make mistakes. Check the details it reads back to you, and the confirmations it sends. Our AI Transparency page explains how it works.

04Calls and recordings#

Calls answered through Modulon are recorded and transcribed so your clinic can follow up and keep accurate records. You will be told at the start of the call. If you do not want to be recorded, ask for a person or contact your clinic another way.

If your provider uses an AI note taker during your visit, your clinic will ask for your agreement before recording. You can say no, and it will not affect your care.

05Text messages#

Your clinic sends texts through Modulon about your care and your account with it: appointment confirmations and reminders, openings, forms to complete, refill and result updates, and bills. You receive them because you gave your clinic your mobile number and agreed to be texted.

  • Opting out. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving texts from your clinic. You will get one text confirming it. Reply START to begin again.
  • Help. Reply HELP for help, or contact your clinic directly.
  • Frequency. Message frequency varies with your appointments and requests.
  • Cost. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
  • Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Marketing. Your clinic will not text you marketing through Modulon unless you have separately agreed to it.
  • Privacy. Your mobile number and consent to receive texts are never shared with anyone for their own marketing. See our Privacy Policy.

Texts avoid clinical detail where they can, and link to a secure page for anything sensitive. Tell your clinic if your number changes, so texts about you do not reach someone else.

06Booking and forms#

  • Give accurate information when you book or fill in forms, and book only for yourself or someone you are authorized to act for, such as your child.
  • A booking is confirmed when you receive a confirmation. Your clinic may need to change or cancel it, and will tell you if it does.
  • Forms you send go to your clinic's staff, who may follow up. Do not use forms to report anything urgent.

07Payments#

  • Payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe, and paid directly to your clinic. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored by Modulon.
  • You will receive a receipt for each payment.
  • Questions about a bill, refunds and payment plans are handled by your clinic, under its own policies.

08Using the services#

Do not misuse the services: do not try to access anyone else's information, interfere with the service, send abusive or unlawful messages, or try to make the assistant act outside your clinic's rules. Your clinic may stop serving you through Modulon if you do.

09Your information#

Your clinic controls your health information, and Modulon handles it only on its behalf. Our HIPAA Notice, EU and UK Privacy and Middle East Privacy pages explain how, depending on where your clinic is, and how to exercise your rights. Your clinic's own privacy notice also applies.

10Our responsibility#

We work to keep the services available and accurate, but cannot promise they will always be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the law where you live, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.

11Changes and contact#

These terms are governed by the law of the place where your clinic is located. We may update them, and will post the new version here with a new date. These terms are written in English; where we translate them, the English text controls unless local law requires otherwise.

For questions about your care, appointments or bills, contact your clinic. For questions about these terms, write to hello@modulonhealth.com.
